She will be joining a loose cabal of "not-so-star-ish-indie-rock-stars" at Johnny Brenda's in Philly next Monday to perform Tusk front to back. I think this thing is also at Union Hall this Sunday.
A full press release right after the jump.
MARCH 29, 2010: In appreciation and celebration of musician Lindsey Buckingham's mad genius and one of modern music’s most “punk rock-soft rock” albums, Fleetwood Mac’s Tusk, The Lindsey Buckingham Appreciation Society will perform its interpretation of the classic 1979 double album in its entirety Monday, May 17 at Johnny Brenda’s in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with special guest Jennifer O'Connor.
After five years of “Yeah, we should really do this... no, seriously!'”e-mails, phone calls, and drinking sessions, fellow Lindsey Buckingham/Fleetwood Mac obsessives Charlie Hall (vocalist and multi-instrumentalist who has played drums with Jens Lekman, The War on Drugs, Windsor for the Derby, Tommy Guerrero and others) and Patrick Berkery (drummer for Danielson, Pernice Brothers, Bigger Lovers, Mazarin and others) finally put their musical pipe dream into action in 2009, and found four kindred music spirits to form The Lindsey Buckingham Appreciation Society.
The six-person collective is based out of several points along the I-95 corridor between New England and Philadelphia, and also includes Tony Goddess (formerly of Papas Fritas, currently with Jenny Dee & The Deelinquents), Birdie Busch (a Philadelphia-based singer and songwriter), Samantha Goddess (a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, also of Jenny Dee & The Deelinquents) and Dave Hartley (bassist and vocalist with The Buried Beds, The War on Drugs and BC Camplight).
The Lindsey Buckingham Appreciation Society is not a tribute act and will not perform in costume. The band features no defined character roles and is more a loving exploration of the album than a verbatim reproduction. For more about The Lindsey Buckingham Appreciation Society, visit www.tlbas.com.

Taking a breath between gigs on her seemingly never-ending tour, Jennifer O'Connor and her band stop by Austin's KUT to perform a special live session. Austinites can hear it on Thursday (1/22) at 2PM on 90.5 FM, while the rest can stream from kut.org.
There's more information to be found here.
...on tour with Amy Ray...
...followed by February and March solo dates. If we don't see you at one or more of these, hopefully it's just the poor lighting.
(Here WIth Me, LP/CD/digital)
Stand Up in turn commissioned a lovely video for the song. Cheers to Stand Up and to JOC for working on behalf of a worthy cause.
I recently recorded a version of "Deck The Halls" for a Christmas compilation. Caleb Palma of the awesome Hard To Find a Friend blog asked me to contribute and I did (as did the likes of like Oxford Collapse, Bodies of Water, Jason Colett, American Analog Set and more....). The comp is available for $7.50 as a download right here, and 100% of the proceeds will go to the Children of Uganda Fund.
Our spring Intended Play label download sampler was a huge hit, so we're doing it again. Just like before, you get a track from one of each of our current and upcoming releases. Seven of the tracks have not been released on MP3 yet, and four of those are from albums that haven't been released yet. The sampler this time is a bit more varied musically, from A.C. Newman's jewel-like pop songscapes to the majestic neo-punk of Fucked Up to the gorgeous female vocals of Jennifer O'Connor to a track from Lou Reed's painstaking, thoughtful, first-ever performance of his controversial classic album 'Berlin.' We also introduce an unreleased song from Pavement's 'Brighten The Corner' sessions, due out on the deluxe edition of that album in November.
Click on the link to get a zipped file of all 13 tracks plus front and back artwork, and burn it yourself (or just listen to it digitally). And support the bands and the label... if you like the track, click on the album title link below to buy (or preorder) the album (or more individual tracks) directly from us.
1. A.C. Newman There Are Maybe Ten Or Twelve (from Get Guilty, due out January 20)
2. Belle and Sebastian The State I Am In (BBC Version) (from The BBC Sessions, due out November 18)
3. Jennifer O'Connor Here With Me (from Here With Me, released August 19)
4. Shearwater The Snow Leopard (Remastered) from Rook, released June 3)
5. Lou Reed Caroline Says, Pt. II (Live) (from Berlin: Live At St. Ann's Warehouse, due out November 4)
6. Mogwai The Sun Smells Too Loud (from The Hawk Is Howling, released September 23)
7. Fucked Up No Epiphany (from The Chemistry Of Common Life, released October 7)
8. Jay Reatard An Ugly Death (from Matador Singles '08, released October 7)
9. Jaguar Love Humans Evolve Into Skyscrapers (from Take Me To The Sea, released August 19)
10. Pavement Cataracts (from Brighten The Corners: Nicene Creedence Ed., due out December 9)

JO'C: This is your store, right? How long have you been at it?
K&M : 4 years.
JO'C: What's the best thing about running this store?
Kevin: All the money you make from selling independent records.
JO'C: Ha! Right... I'm familiar with that perk as well.
Melanie: Seriously, we are fans and it is really awesome to be able to be in the unique position where we can really help bands out in a way we couldn't if we didn't have this store. If we love a record or a band we can really push them and turn people on to them.
JO'C: How does being in such close proximity to the Beachland Ballroom affect your business? I assume that's why you chose this location, right?
Melanie: Yes, that's why. We work together with Beachland. We sell tickets to the shows and help promote the bands that play there. We put on shows with them sometimes. We are all good friends and part of the same community.
JO'C: Do you stay open late on show nights?
Melanie: Yes, sometimes. We did recently for the Neko Case show.
Kevin: We once stayed open until 3:30 in the morning for a Guided By Voices show.
JO'C: That's awesome. I love the idea of being able to shop for records before, after or during a show.
Do you guys have a prized record in your own personal collection(s)?
Kevin: I'm not so much of a collector.
Melanie: Yeah, but we do have some stuff. We have like 6 copies of that first Menomena record where it folds out into a monster. There are only like 500 copies of those. We each got that for eachother for Christmas that year.
JO'C: Aw, that's sweet. You guys are married, right?
JO'C: Ok, just a couple more questions. What's your favorite place to eat in Cleveland?
Kevin: Probably Melt.
Melanie: It's full name is Melt Bar & Grilled.
Kevin: Grilled cheese sandwiches.
JO'C: Yum! And its getting to be the time of year for this question....What's your favorite record of 2008?
Kevin: Bon Iver.
Melanie: We both love the Frightened Rabbit record too
JO'C: They just did an instore here today right?
Kevin and Melanie also professed a love for the new Marnie Stern record but thought maybe it was too soon to add it to their favorites of the year list.
Jon Langmead got some used Willie Nelson vinyl and we went and played our set at the Tavern. Nick Lowe was playing the big room next door and I got to hear half of "(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love, and Understanding" before we went on - which was pretty cool. I also met Amy Rigby and Wreckless Eric who were in attendance. So, all in all, a pretty chockful day.
Love from Pontiac, MI where we will play with The New Year tonight,

JO'C: Anything else we should know about Dynamite?
Willis: We are the best record store in the Valley.
JO'C: Ok, I'll be sure to let everyone know.
This did seem like a pretty cool store, though it seemed like they had considerably less stock than in their previous location, but I think they are still in the process of moving. Lots of vinyl - reasonably priced.
Look out for many more record store interviews in the coming weeks as we are about to head out for over a month. Feel free to check out the tour schedule and send along your recommendations!
Another year, another fund drive for WPRB, Princeton's non-profit radio station. WPRB and Jon Solomon welcome the return of Jennifer O'Connor for the station's annual membership drive. Similar to last year's program, Jennifer will be performing covers by request of pledgers.
Tune in tonight at 7PM EST at 103.3FM for those in the NY/NJ/PA area and at www.wprb.com for the rest.
Jennifer O'Connor will be performing live on WNYC's Soundcheck with John Schaefer today at 2:30PM at 93.9 on your FM dial in NYC and online at wnyc.org. Be advised that we're gonna suspend all promotional campaigning on the Matablog until the national's financial crash is sorted out. Or until later this afternoon, whichever comes first.
Jennifer will also be playing the Mercury Lounge tonight (10:30) and Brooklyn's Union Hall on Sunday, both gigs in support of Great Lake Swimmers.
That's it, I guess. I meant to take more pictures and do a record store blog but there wasn't enough time. West coast drives between cities are too long.
Playing in the van: The Shins - Oh, Inverted World, Spiritualized - Songs in A&E, Jay Reatard - Singles 06/07, Lil Wayne - Tha Carter III, Damien Jurado - Caught In The Trees, Magnetic Fields - 69 Love Songs Vol. One
I apologize for the use of the word "free" in these instances. I don't know when we've charged money for an instore previously, and if someone did make you pay $5 (for instance) to see one of our bands perform in a record shop, might I suggest you've been a victim of a subway troll moved overground?
First, next Monday online radio session:
Viva Radio Presents
Me Plus You hosted by Ted Shumaker
with special guest Jennifer O'Connor
An in-depth interview and exclusive live songs at the Viva Studios.
Air Date 9/1/08, 12:30PM EST and available in the Archive Vol. 24

Then on Friday, September 26th, Jennifer O'Connor will light up the radio airwaves when she is a guest on WNYC's Soundcheck with John Schaefer.
Tune in at 2:30PM on 93.9FM in the New York area or WNYC online to hear Jennifer's live interview and two-song performance.
