For the life of me I have tried and I have no idea what he's saying, especially in the beginning 2 verses. What I hear is:
Everlasting chains
Sod the ship remains
Stumble strike the gain
They are pain
I can see the clear
Take a ride to there
Deep divided down
To the ground
I know thes aren't right (although they kind of sound like Bob's lyrics). Anyone have a better take on these? These are as hard to understand as the lyrics to Man Called Aerodynamics or Wire Greyhounds.

You may have missed this part:
I can see clearly now,
The rain is gone,
I can see all
Obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds
That had me blind
It’s gonna be a bright,
Bright, sun-shiny day.

I knew Bob said this is a happy album but that's ridiculous. Did you read the comment Bob made in a recent interview where he said he couldn't find a woman in his age group so he figured, what the heck, young girls come to the shows...
I just hope this girls not a golddigger going for his Rock Star fortune. :)

Well one of my most prized possessions is Bob's actual hand written lyrics direct from his notebook for My Kind of Soldier. So here goes:
Paralyze the chains
Soft the shelled remains
Stun the strike brigade
They are played
Out with cheek and hair
Take the right to bare
Teeth to bite them down
In the ground
My kind of soldier
You can ride on my shoulders when you've won
Fight for the moment of control
When it opens then it's gone
Introduce your pride
To the other side
Vaporize the trial
With denial
My kind of soldier
You can ride on my shoulders when you've won
Fight for the moment of control
When it opens then it's gone

Wow, thanks Rich. I know it's just in text for me, but it somehow seems more intimate knowing that you transcribed that directly from Bob's notebook. It seems more like poetry that way, scrawled in ink. I really like these lyrics, what a great song....

You're the one who should be going after the young girls with stuff like this laying around. Think of all the great pick up lines you could come up with.
"So...uh, hey baby. You wanna go over to my place and read Bob's songbook with me?"

that line would've wokred with me. Then again, sometimes I'm easy.
"Say oops I missed on LSD with the figures of conspiracy crawling up to you
It's easy to make a point and prove a point
It's all that you can do
It's easy. It's easy, easy."
