This quarter's edition of Signal To Noise features the trio as the cover story. This is also the first time I've ever seen an ad from Matador in STN! Thanks for advertising with such an obscure magazine. Thrill Jockey was featured more heavily last quarter than I had ever seen. I'll be glad to see more rock music featured, personally. I've always felt that some of the music featured was a bit to obscure. Great to see Matador featured in the same magazine as Okka and the like! I hope to see more Matador exposure from STN in the future. I'll be sure to write Pete to let him know!

This was actually one of the more in depth articles I had read on Yo La Tengo. I'm surprised at the lack of interest here. STN is a great magazine, though it focuses less on indie rock than it does on more experimental forms. With that in mind, I guess the Yo La Tengo article is written in a different light than most of the write-ups. Ira addresses Pitchfork's negative review of the album, as does the journalist, by pointing out the wide array of recorded musical styles that Yo La Tengo has released since And Then Nothing... I thought that was a pretty good point.
I still haven't heard Summer Sun. I'm not an early adapter. I had no idea there was a horn section on the album, much less a horn section of THAT caliber.
