I read this interview (translated and transcribed) with Chan, think made in November or so, she emphatically says Callahan is not on the album, which sustains what Johansen and Soot said.
INTERVIEWER: (...)But I know also there is Bill Callahan. But I—
CHAN: What? NOOOOO!
INTERVIEWER: Who sung the last song with you?
CHAN: Phew! The only people on the record are those two people (Vedder and Grohl) and myself and the two kids.

either way, someone's gotta call the peeps at insound and tell them to stop saying Bill Callahan's on the record. Might make the fans mope more than they already do..
I can't wait to get this piece.
also, query for the Matador execs:
remember those LP reissues you all were talking about, including Moon Pix and others, any timetable on that yet? will it be a publicized reissue or will they just quietly reappear in the catalog?

As far as I know, there's no M. Ward participation. But u can write him, there's an e-mail address on Giat Sand site.

I think Eddie Vedder's contractual obligations to a major label restrict him from "offically" taking part in the Cat Power album.

Or is it because Ed and/or Chan knows that all the indie snoots'll say "fuckin Eddie VEDDER? what's going on?"
In an interview with the onion he says that he sings on it, and then says "I think its supposed to be secret, or under a pseudonym..."
I do believe Gerard once "officially" (as official as posting to this place is) named Ed Vedder and Dave Grohl as participants.
either way, I'm excited to hear their contributions.
