View Full Version : Blues Explosion!
alumni thread!
i was surprised that there was no mention of the ATP "don't look back" show a few weeks back where the mighty BX played the matador classic orange in its entirety from start to finish. i was fortunate enough to catch their tune up show at the pussycat lounge a few nights before. flashback 1994 nyc style!

They played here in the village the following night (after ATP/Koko). Was gonna head but that would've been four straight gigs Wed-Sat and even my head needs a break.
Wish I'd gone now, haven't seen them since '95!
i read that sanctuary was having some financial difficulties, which i'd imagine may have some implications for their roster. not that i wish any bad luck on the band's relationship w/ sanctuary, but i wouldn't mind seeing the bx around these parts again.
hey, why is the jsbx thread in its own ghetto down here? i mean, even the prosaics have a propper thread. how about a little love for the mid-nineties punkers and their aging fans.
awesomeness
Does this thing finally have a release date?
Cool Back From the Grave homage, but is this going to end up being the JSBX's Corpse Love?

Call me a fan of primitivism or whatever but I always impressed by his capacity for abandoning the song altogether and bigging his band up. Never misses an oppurtunity for self congratulation.:)

That TV clip is the best thing I've seen in years. It's given me a new lease on life, to be frank.
This reminded me that my copy of Orange was sadly lost in the great pre-move vinyl purge of 2005. So I went to Amazon to see how much a used CD copy of this thing would run me, and came upon this customer review/Moment of Zen (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/customer-reviews/B0000036T3/ref=cm_cr_dp_synop/104-1519908-5047908?ie=UTF8&n=5174&s=music&customer-reviews.start=1#R14TMDA3X5JHOA)... Awesome. And it ran me $9- with shipping. A bargain.

seriously, when are the blues explosion getting a propper thread under older releases so i can talk to myself there?
upon just reading the liner notes of the jukebox explosion, i'm guessing this thread may be staying down here. too bad "miss elaine" and "relax-her" didn't make the cut. i was hoping to see those on there.

Why did everyone give up on JSBX? Or is it they who gave up? It doesn't seem like anyone remembers that they were one of the coolest things going in the 1990s. I've been listening to their stuff again on vinyl and, in my insignificant opinion, it holds up great.
