I see you walking up 14th Street
I see you walking up 14th Street
And you don't know
That I'm walking right behind you
Walking real slow

So guess who I saw in the subway station today on my way home from Troma. ( http://www.troma.com/ )

Laura Cantrell.

At first I thought I might have been mistaken because I recognized from a distance she was wearing the same shirt she wore at the July 4th concert, and I thought it might have been a similar person in a similar shirt. As I drew closer, I realized...

So did I tell her I wrote a song that involves her? No.

So did I mention I'm a fan (I doubt she'd remember me from the 40 seconds we shared July 4)? No.

What'd I do? I thought.

I thought about what to do, as a train went past with no passengers. She looked up and noted the passing train, and either realizing she was in the wrong place, or feeling like hailing a cab instead of waiting for a train to actually stop, she grabbed her shopping bags (I couldn't read them from where I was standing -- either clothes or housewares... or both?) and walked out of the station. As she passed, my lingering uncertainty was dissipated as I saw that, minus the hint of make-up for performance and with the addition of glasses, it was certainly her.

I felt puzzled, and then a train pulled up moments after she was out of sight.

That guy arthur's posts are funny as hell. The song, in particular, had me rolling off my seat. Unfortunately, someone has to tell this poor chap that she's already happily married.

. . . . however, can't say that I entirely disagree with the sentiments.

Me neither.

Wouldn't it be great if Laura did a version of that song on her next album?

She is known for covering the songs of little known New York City songwriters, a category that Arthur appears to fall into, so it looks like a definite possibility.

Hey there.
That's awesome and strange that you folks found my livejournal.

If you've only read the words but haven't heard the demo, it's up at:

And... yes...
someone did let me know about the gentleman behind Diesel Only Records, for whom one presumes songs like "Roll, Truck, Roll" was written.

We've got John Foyle on the case. Nothing gets past him and Feedster.
