The BBC Radio 2 Cambridge Folk Festival is sold out. No tickets will be available for purchase at the gate over the Festival weekend. Do not travel to the Festival if you do not have a ticket.
Those who have not been able to obtain a ticket can still enjoy the Festival via BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 2 website and BBC Four TV.
BBC Radio 2 coverage begins when Mark Radcliffe presents his show live from the first night of the Cambridge Folk Festival on Thursday 28th July, 10.30 pm-12.00 midnight. Stuart Maconie presents Drivetime live from the Festival on Friday 29th July, 5.05 pm-7.00 pm. On Saturday 30th July, Radio 2 In Concert features highlights from the Festival so far in a special concert from 9.30 pm-10.30 pm and Mike Harding and Nick Barraclough join forces to present a special 2 hours of highlights from the entire Festival on Wednesday 3rd August, 7.00 pm-9.00 pm.
Listen again to all the Radio 2 coverage for up to 7 days after the festival via the BBC Radio Player on the BBC Radio 2 website (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/), where it will also be possible to: view picture galleries of artists on stage throughout the weekend, watch video highlights of the event on broadband, find out more with interviews from the top artists taking part, find out what's going on backstage and on site with the daily diary and share your comments and views about the event.
BBC Four will broadcast two 60 minute programmes featuring highlights from the Festival (transmission dates tbc).

Re Lucinda Williams ear infection, it would be unfair to expect her to fly. The advice from the BA website is:
"In normal circumstances the air in your middle ear and sinuses is able to enter and escape, as it expands and contracts, without difficulty (the popping you feel or hear as the aircraft ascends or descends). If there is any blockage, such as may occur if you are suffering from sinusitis or an infection of the middle ear (otitis media), severe pain (or even perforation of the ear drum) may result and you should not fly until it is resolved.

Yep, don't blame her, I wouldn't do it under the same conditions.
The good news is, you can still see Laura at Cambridge.

Who's blaming her?
Though there's not a lot of sympathy for Lucinda on her official website - people are pretty indignant about the lack of any explanation for people who have gone to a lot of effort to see her. The suggestion that she didn't fancy travelling to London in the current climate I'm sure is libellous.

Headliner Lucinda Williams is also a Girl Who Couldn't Fly because of an ear infection that prevents her from appearing. But stalwart Cambridge veteran Laura Cantrell comes to the aid of the party and provides a set of cool Country ballads and upbeat toe-tappers to more than fill Lucinda's snakeskin boots.

The BBC has put up a gallery of 6 photos of Laura at Cambridge Folk Festival on their website...

Also I just watched the first Cambridge highlights prog on BBC4 tonight - sadly no sign of a performance from Laura on the program. Also have checked out next week's program
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/events/cambridge2005/onair.shtml
and no Laura then either... :(
The BBC must have footage of her somewhere ...they definitely recorded her whole set - the boom camera kept swooping about over our heads while we watched Laura play, and there were tv cameras in front of, and on the stage. Occasionally the BBC put out a program featuring just one artist 'In Concert'. I caught a Gillian Welch concert on BBC4 tv before Christmas last year, so fingers crossed, just keep an eye on the tv listings and I wouldn't be surprised if Laura's Cambridge set is shown at some point in the future. :)
