for those who have heard live versions of this song, how do you like the album version compared to what you've heard before?

i was a bit disappointed with the album version. before the album came out, i heard a live version from Sweden and i liked it a lot. it made me excited for the album. but now that i have the album, i hardly ever listen to that track.

i don't know. the live version had so much more energy
and the instrumental bit, i think, was more enjoyable.

i liked the lyrics better, too. :P

I saw him play it live last year, and it does sound a bit different than how I remembered it, but the album version sounds fine to me.

You can compare "1% of one" with Pavement's " The Hexx" and actually the Allmusic.com review does that. The Terror Twilight version of "The Hexx" is quite boring in my opinion and many other people. But that live version they play at some festival on the outtakes of Slow Century ?? For lack of a better word, it's orgasmic.

I also really noticed the 1% of 1 connection to The Hexx.

Theyre both pretty ambitious songs for SM. The Hexx does kind of lull a bit and at times is a bit somber, but I still like love it...the lyrics are great and the solo at the end is the coolest SM ever did in Pavement.
