When you look back at some of the old Pavement b-sides you realize they could have easily been on the albums the quality is that good. That goes a long way when you here some of the shite other bands have as a bsides. What I can't understand is what the hells going on with this bonus cd that I presume will make up the bsides for the singles. When you listen to the album you can pick out a few songs which 'might' work for radio. When you listen to the bonus cd you can here which songs would definetly work out as singles. Since when do the best tracks from an album belong on the bonus cd???????????

Since when do the "best tracks" equal the "radio tracks"?
Sometimes bands decide to make records that they believe function best as an organic whole ... and that means leaving off certain songs that might be radio-friendly. It depends on whether the band is making the record for radio station programmers or fans.

Besides, I don't think any radio stations would play any SM songs anyway. Radio sux.
I heard "Dark Wave" the other day on the radio. Not the best track to get airplay but it was cool to hear it playing through my stereo via the radio.

Point taken Patrick "Radio Tracks" does not been "Best Tracks" (I often make that point myself) it was bad wording on my behalf. I guess I was just a little shocked on how good the bonus tracks are, and in my opinion, way better than some off the album tracks. As for making an album for the fans vs for the radio programmers, well come on.. I dont care how "Indie" a record company thinks they are. From a distribution of 5,000,000 pressings to 5,000 record companies always look at which tracks are 'radio friendly', it's just buisness.
As for radio not playing SM, here in Melbourne, I've heard 1%1 and ramp of death played on different stations. Hopefully they'll get the same kind of rotation phantasies, the hook and Jo Jo's Jacket got here in 2001.
