"Take You On A Cruise" tops it so far.

I'd wait until the 28th to start this, but I no longer can. Plus, I've already received my shipment notification from Insound. That's as good as released to me.

The entire record is awesome. Almost seems like a prequel to TOTBL. I'm predicting this to be number one on many lists for '04.

'Next Exit' is so warm and beautiful...when i first put it on i just melted.. but I think 'Not even jail' is possible my favourite so far... so far meaning about 12 hours of listening.

no doubt it'll change....

I listened to it 3 times at work last night, and "Not Even Jail" is, at the moment at least, easily my favorite. The whole thing is solid, though, not a song on there I don't like.

Take You On A Cruise, mos def. Not Even Jail is a close second. And of course Evil.

Yeah, I'm changing my mind already, Evil is f*cking incredible. Whoever said that this will be filed under the "Top 10" hit the nail square on the head. I've been listening to Explosions in the Sky's "The Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place" a lot lately, and if you haven't already, definitely check that out.

Public pervert is just as good, btw. I found it interesting that track 2 on both albums have both been the songs which have grabbed me the most as soon as I listen to it (at least initially.)

"Public Pervert" (although the title could use some work) is my fav. It's the perfect bittersweet love song.

Then again, this is coming from the guy who thought "The New" and "Obstacle 1" were TOTBL's best.

What's everyone's take on Antics' opener? Yay or nay on the church organ?

yay!

It actually sounds a bit like a mellotron to me, perhaps someone knows?...

I love the opening. It was the opening I was most eager to hear during those months and months of waiting. The organ/mellotron whatever was a surprise, and then when paul starts in.. "we ain't going to the towwwwwn, we're going to the city".. beautifully melodic.

'Take you on a cruise' is indeed brilliant. that guitar...

Wow. I've only heard the first three songs (parental duties prevent a sustained listen at the moment), and I'm juiced up about "Narc." Can't wait to hear the rest.

I like most of 'em, but especially "Public Pervert," "Not Even Jail," and "Evil."

Good release, baby. Good release.

"Public Pervert" and the song where he claims to "make money like Fred Asataire", that's some great shit. But P.P. also has the great line, "There is love to be made," I've made that sugggestion many times to guage the reaction. It's dirty yet polite. Overall though, one of the best ones this year.

Chiming in late on this one, but totally agree about Take You On A Cruise. What a great song! Probably the most reminiscient of TOTBL in its own way.

Then I'd probably say Narc and Not Even Jail, but really it's all great. And does anyone else hear this total 1950's doowop ballad thing going on in Next Exit? Took me by surprise that. great stuff.

Also gotta say Slow Hands is awesome. I love everything about it except, strangely enough, the chorus. weird.

"Not Even Jail".

Yet the whole thing swings, obviously.

After a few weeks for it all to settle in, I'm finding myself *adoring* 'c'mere'. It's the warmest interpol song I've heard, it almost feels as if it could have finished the album nicely. The refrain is so gorgeous.. "oh how I love you... in the evening.. when we are sleeping"..

love the album. My fav song is evil, closely followed my c'mere

but 10 songs.. come on.. that' s too short!
Hope there will be more on the next one... let's say 15 tracks? or a double album to make it up?? (but let's not a spoiled brat!)
