Any recommendations for Boston stores to check out? Hopefully it won't snow while I am up there. I'm from the South. We stock up on potatoes and plastic sheets when in touble.

Now that Other Music is gone, I'd say the best place to find hard-to-find records is Twisted Village in Harvard Sq, across from the Charles Hotel. The people there can either be super nice and helpful (Wayne, the owner, is wicked nice, as are some of the kids working there) or they can be aloof and a little too cool (some but not all of the employees).

you can also listen to anything before you buy, which is great.

Newbury Comics is the big daddy music store chain in the area, but at the same time the Harvard Sq. and Newbury St. locations have good selections of oddness among all the Disturbed records.

Mars Records on Newbury St. is a good one if you're not looking for anything in particular, but hope to maybe stumble upon something you had forgotten you wanted.

I'dsay those three are my main music buying spots these days..

but skippy white's on mass. ave in cambridge rarely failed to have something interesting. of course it's been about two years since i've been back there, it may not be there any more.

to echo tino's sentiment, make sure you visit twisted village.

Peter Prescott (Mission of Burma) works at Smash City on Newbury and Looney Tunes on Boylston near Berklee. Both great used stores, get his autograph.

near Harvard Square used to be good. Is it still around? Pipeline's gone, right?

In Your Ear's still there. the one in Harvard is good, but the one on Comm. Ave. over near BU (two doors down from the Paradise Rock Club) is better..

Pipeline's been gone for a few years now.

Someone mentioned Looney Tunes over near Berklee.. I'll second that vote.
