anyone else make it to the toronto or NYC dizzee shows? i thought the NYC gig was outstanding. it was perhaps the coolest setting for a show i've ever seen - a flatbed 18-wheeler cutting across a huge warehouse floor. at some point early on, dizzee said "this ain't a show, this is a banger! we on a truck in a warehouse!" (or something like that....)
anyway, he's really excellent live ... his flow is incredible, so quick. the songs seemed a little more like straight-up hip-hop live, but rocked - "stop dat" and "2 far" were probably my highlights. he's so great that he didn't even need music behind him ... he had a few freestyles that were just him. and when ending with "brand new day" the music started skipping ... so he told the DJ to shut it off and he finished solo. very cool.
anyway, he said he'll be back in the summer to "do it properly" ... highly recommended. 'boy in da corner' is pretty much the only thing i've been listening to since the show....
