I've posted an attempt at a Burma discography. I'm trying to be as complete as possible. All corrections/additions are gladly welcomed!

Not that it really matters in the grand scheme of things, but when I linked to this from the "What's New" page, I got a broken link because the directory being linked reads: discography.thml

Just a heads up....

Thanks Funk - fixed. It's nice to know that someone reads the "whatsup" page.

The Signals, Calls, and Marches reissue has the "Academy Fight Song/Max Ernst" single tacked on at the end, and Horrible Truth About Burma has four bonus tracks.

I think Live at the Bradford came out in 1993.

There's this guy whose name escapes me at the moment (I believe he put up Burma reviews on amazon.com and he was interviewed for Our Band Could Be Your Life) who knows just about everything about Mission of Burma. He contributed strongly to the performance list on their website, and he even wrote up a list of every song they wrote, along with recording sessions, debuts of songs, and releases that I had for a time, and you may be able to find on soulseek.

But maybe that's more for the fanatical fans.

Nerdy question: how'd the -# for SACDs end up being 6? Are 4 and 5 being used for something we don't know about?

cos its three times as good as a CD?

gleaned from the Matador Discography Page (http://www.matadorrecords.com/releases/discography.html):

1 = LP
2 = CD
3 = VHS
4 = CS
5 = ?
6= SACD
7 = 7"
8 = ?
9 = DVD

couldn't figure out 5 and 8. 10"ers count as LPs..

8-track? escandalo!? minidisc? DCC?

tino, funny that you mentioned this, because I've been researching it. You're almost completely there. Here's the scoop:

0 = 12" or 10" (not used by Matador; was used early on for some DVDs)
1 = LP
2 = CD
3 = VHS
4 = CS
5 = book or video game -- we're not sure on this one (not used by Matador)
6 = SACD or DVD-A or IA or IS (Internet Album or Internet Single, e.g. iTunes-only release)
7 = 7"
8 = 8-track, you guessed it
9 = DVD

TSD, his name is Eric Van and I'm a little scared of him.

oh, so that's an industry standard sort of thing. I thought it might be something labels come up with themselves, like how you have the "ole," I figured the subcategory after the cat. # was also your part of your own inventions and decisions.

huh, learn something new every day.

Yeah, it's an industry standard thing. Though I recently heard that NARM or the RIAA came to an agreement with the Universal Code Council that UPCs would no longer have to reflect the configuration codes. (Look at the barcode on any LP or CD and you'll see that the second-to-last digit is a 1 or a 2 respectively.) I don't know if this will change soon.

Also, they're a lot more cavalier about this kind of thing in Europe, as mojo can attest.

Oh, man, yeah, I can't wait for Inexplicable to be released. Last I heard it was supposed to be done for June. Last June.

*sigh*
