my favorite is 'come on die young', with 'happy songs' as a close second.

'ep+2' gets an honorable mention.

they didn't play any songs from 'rock action' when i saw them a month ago

did anyone else get this treat? i can't really see how any of them could be executed properly live, except for maybe "2 rights make one wrong"

they didn't sing any songs either, have they ever done this?

edit: and although i doubt this is anyone's favorite mogwai record, i should have put up the 'my father my king' single.

yes, stuart, one of the guitarists in the band sings on come on die young and rock action. i don't know why he doesn't want to sing live anymore. i miss hearing cody live.

I would have chosen EP+6 had it been a choice. but...

i've seen and have live recordings of Sine Wave, You Don't Know Jesus, 2 Rights..., Secret Pint. Secret Pint live is freakin' awesome!

i saw 'ep+6' when i was in san francisco

i didn't know if it was an import or not, and while already having 'ep+2', didn't feel like paying the whopping $26 for 4 extra songs

have those 4 extra songs been released anywhere else other than the 'ep+6'?

hell, what exactly is 'ep+6'?

EP+6 is a compilation of 3 Mogwai e.p.'s ('Mogwai (aka Stanley Kurbrick) e.p., No Education=No Future (Fuck The Curfew) e.p., and the 4 Satin e.p.)

* stanley kubrick
* christmas song
* burn girl prom queen
* rage:man

* xmas steps (e.p. version--better than the CODY version IMO)
* rollerball
* small children in the background

* superheroes of bmx
* now you're taken
* stereo dee

The UK version has the video for Stanley Kubrick and a photo gallery and a screen saver.

The Japanese version has the videos for Stanley Kubrick and Xmas Steps.

i respect your opinion but i think the cody version is so much better than the old version. when i heard the old version i knew why they re-recorded it. it's the same thing with helicon 1, if you listen to the ten rapid version and compare it with any live recordings... it's the live versions that are way better. i wish that they could re-record tracy because i think that the myt version is mixed so poorly. cheers.

fair enough. i really like the e.p. version of Xmas Steps solely for the loud section. the attack of the loud section has more "umph" than the CODY version. it has the feeling of "whoa, where did that come from?" anyway, i'm just rambling. heh heh.

i will agree with you on live versions of Helicon 1 (the evening session version, in particular) and would like to add the Black Session version of Summer. both these versions completely obliterate their studio recorded counterparts.

whoa, you're taking me back to the days of 1998, aren't you? i'm not familiar with the black sessions (i've only seen the photographs!, haha). i don't know why they "delete" their old stuff when playing live. i think that they've only played tracy once and that was at a surprise gig. here's the link:

there must be some bootlegs floating around from this gig. it is possible that i can find it somewhere? you seem to be a boot guy.

i personally don't have a live version of Tracy. i heard that they had been sound checking with Tracy on the last US tour. since that particular gig was (technically) an All Tomorrow's Parties show, I wouldn't doubt that someone has a recording of it. I once read that they don't play Tracy live because they can't play it very well.

well, i was online at soulseek yesterday and i found a live recording of mogwai doing a cover of joy division's "twenty four hours". this is the gig where they also play "tracy" and there's probably a live recording of it floating around. they will probably give it a go at the next atp festival.

i guess i'm just writing for myself but i really want to share this. i've finally obtained a live recording of tracy from the gig in camber sands in -99. this version is much shorter, it's about 5 minutes and they sound like they do a mistake 3 minutes into the song. the drummer stops playing and the other except one does the same. and it's seem like a confused moment or something. but overall it's sounds really good and i don't understand why it's such a bitch playing live. anyways, i can die a happy man now.

happy xmas. sorry for the bad english.
